May 10, 2021.
Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted 12 Muslims who were  worshipping at midnight prayer known as ‘Tahajjud” at a mosque located in the far Jibiya town of Katsina state
According to Muslim believers “Tahajjud” is a midnight prayer that is being observed during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
One of the residents of the affected community, Mallam Fahad Mukhtar disclosed the abduction to a news media (Channels Television) today Monday morning.
Fahad Mukhtar explained that the gunmen came from the Western part of the town at the mosque around 2:am on Monday shooting sporadically.
They gain access through the door and furiously abducted the worshippers, in a  number of 12, and took them into the forest.
However, he said residents have earlier been warned of the attack but they ignored the warnings and proceed with the prayer.
“before the incident, residents were informed on so many WhatsApp platforms that there might be an attack around 12:am”.
“Our prayer is that May Almighty Allah intervene and look into our condition in Jibia. This attack happens almost on daily basis. It’s not something new”.
“Our leaders and sponsors of the insecurity in our country should recall that there will be a day of judgement,” he said.
Mr. Mukhtar further explained, there has been several attacks by bandits in the area. He said this recent attack follows an earlier attack where 40 worshippers were kidnapped and 28 managed to escape.
According to another resident of the town, Muhammadu Sani also confirmed that the bandits have earlier abducted about forty worshippers.
The police authorities in the state lay low on the incident after several phone calls directed to the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Gambo Isah but none was returned.
The residents of the town feel unsafe as the community seems to be insecure following the negligence of the state police command.
