Ebonyi State gov–David Umahi has neglected IPOB sit at home order~details below

Governor of Ebonyi State David Umahi has kicked against Monday sit at home order declared by Simon Ekpa the new Biafra radio broadcaster who took over from  Nnamdi Kanu the leader of Independent people of Biafra (IPOB)

Following the adjournment of Nnamdi Kanu’s trial, IPOB has declared a “sit at home” order to protest against his release from detention by the Nigeria government. 

But the governor David Umahi has opposed the order saying, “his government will not tolerate the sit at home order by IPOB” 

The Governor further called on her citizens to go about their normal businesses on Monday, he said he will not be subjected to an order from IPOB. 

David Umahi has said that, all schools, markets, commercial banks and offices in the state will open on Monday without hitches. He added that it was inconsequential to draw the state backward as it was doing everything possible to develop the state across all sectors.

This was contained in a statement signed by Special Assistant to Governor Dave Umahi on Media, Francis Nwaze. 

“To this end, the Governor, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, wishes to inform the general public that Monday, August 9, 2021, is a working day, just like every other working day in the state. Markets, banks, schools, will operate as usual.

Consequent upon this, the general public is urged to feel free to go about their lawful businesses in consonance with COVID-19 protocol and the Executive Order of the Governor on social gathering without any fear of intimidation or molestation, both on the said date and thereafter.

“The youths and members of the public are seriously advised to desist from engaging in any activities that are capable of breaking down of law and embrace anarchy as it resultant effect is dwindling of the economy of the state.

“Security Agencies in the state are by this announcement directed to maintain law and order and ensure that all law-abiding citizens go about their duties unmolested, he said.”
