Many people had earlier layed out criticism following the wives of the late “monarch” Oba Adeyemi, 83, who died and was buried in accordance to Islamic belief, the previous week after receiving treatment at Afe Babalola University in Ado-Ekiti.
Mean while the shocked demise of Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, the 45th Alaafin of Oyo kept people wondering what may become of his 18 wives left behind until a resolution was amassed that the aging wives of the late Alaafin may now be allowed to remarry without undergoing cleansing rituals.
According to _kemifilaniblog_ the names of the wives of the late monarch ready to remarry are as follows, Abibat (first wife), Rahmat Adedayo, Mujidat, Rukayat, Folashade, Badirat Ajoke, Memunat Omowunmi, Omobolanle, Moji, Anuoluwapo, Damilola, Chioma, and other Oba Adeyemi’s queens are now available for suitors.
According to Oyo chief “They are not cleansing; they are free to go about their lives,”
Regardless, he stated. “The wives are not allowed to marry an Oyo indigene.”
“Now that Alaafin is dead, they will all be asked to leave the palace with their belongings,” he added. Despite the fact that they would share the late monarch’s properties.” he explained
But many Nigerians now criticise the tradition that allows monarch to marry multiple young wives at their old ages said it makes no sense rather render the wives second hand use after the demise the monarch just like in the case of the Oba Adeyemi of Oyo.
