Carter Efe: From Tailoring to Skit Making
Nigerian skit maker and artist, Oderhwo Joseph Efe, popularly known as Carter Efe, shared insights into his journey to stardom, revealing that he was a tailor before making it big.
The ‘Machala’ crooner emphasized that comedy was innate for him and traced his artistic roots back to childhood. Speaking on Hip TV’s Trending, hosted by reality star KimOprah, Carter Efe expressed, “I have been funny right from birth. I’ve been doing stand-up comedy since I was in school.”
He disclosed that his love for art led him to learn tailoring, even working as a ‘London tailor’ named ‘Obioma’ before transitioning into skit making.
Despite facing challenges, including lying to his boss to shoot skits during his tailoring days, Carter Efe’s breakthrough came when he won a PS5 in a challenge posted by Broda Shaggi.
Recalling the pivotal moment, he said, “When I collected the PS5, I sold it for about N300,000. Then I decided to stay back in Lagos.”
Carter Efe continued using the funds to finance his skit-making endeavors, marking a transformative period in his career.
