CIPMN Inducts 200 New Members to Elevate Project Management Standards
The Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria (CIPMN) recently conducted an induction ceremony welcoming 200 new members. The goal is to make project management more professional and accountable all over the country.
At the ceremony held in Abuja, Henry Mbadiwe, the registrar of the institute, emphasized the significance of CIPMN membership for individuals involved in project delivery in Nigeria. He expressed optimism that the induction of these new members would contribute to reducing the number of abandoned projects in the country.
Mbadiwe stated, “Our job is now to begin to get them to that point where they can be licensed. CIPMN makes sure that you cannot deliver projects in Nigeria unless you’re a member of the institute. So the job of these individuals is now to start leading projects in Nigeria, and it is the law.”
In an interview, Saidu Njidda, the keynote speaker at the event, highlighted the potential positive impact of the institute becoming a professional body in Nigeria. Njidda commented, “Things are going to change in Nigeria. We have to do what is being done globally so that our projects will be successful in Nigeria, like every other part of the world.” He encouraged project managers not yet affiliated with the institute to formalize their practice by joining CIPMN.
