Today, in Abuja, the trial of the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, continued.

A forensic analyst named Bamaiyi MMeriga confirmed that documents used to request $6.2 million for foreign election observers were fake.

He said signatures and seals were forged and didn’t match those of former President Muhammadu Buhari and ex-Secretary General of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.

The trial has been adjourned till March 11. Emefiele faces charges including corruption, conspiracy, forgery, and obtaining money falsely.

He’s accused of pretending to be the SGF to get $6.2m illegally. The former SGF denied involvement, saying he knew nothing about it when he left office in May 2023.
