Labour Unions Propose New Minimum Wage Figures in Nigeria
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has suggested a new minimum wage of ₦709,000 for workers during a public hearing in Abuja on March 7.
The Trade Union Congress (TUC) proposed ₦447,000. Both unions cited current economic conditions for their figures.
However, Kwara, Nasarawa, and Niger states didn’t suggest any amount. Only Plateau state proposed ₦81,000 as the new minimum wage.
The NLC and TUC are pushing for a wage increase due to the country’s economic challenges.
