Minister Orders Crackdown on Calls for Military Takeover
The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has told the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) to go after people who want the military to take over the government.
He said this in a statement released on Thursday, March 7, through the Director of Information, Press, and Public Relations of the Defence Ministry, Henshaw Ogubikean.
Matawalle called those calling for a military takeover “agents of darkness” and warned that they would face consequences.
He said it’s wrong to ask for military intervention just because some criminals attacked a warehouse. Matawalle stressed that the military is professional and focused on defending the constitution.
