Nigeria Correctional Service Cooperative Society Supports Members Amid Economic Hardships

The Nigeria Correctional Service Cooperative Society helped its members by giving them soft loans to cope with the tough economic times in the country.

Lydia Abraham, who manages the Cooperative Society, shared this news during their 27th Annual General Meeting in Abuja.

People, especially youths and women, protested across the country about the high cost of living. Abraham explained that their cooperative aims to support NCoS staff while they work, after they retire, and even after they pass away.

She mentioned that many officers are retiring in 2024, needing a lot of money as they leave. So, the cooperative teamed up with Microfinance Banks to offer services like loans, rice supply, and land buying to Correctional officers.

Abraham also mentioned progress in their plan to provide housing for staff, with some already finishing their houses and others still paying for land.
