President Tinubu Suspends Rural Electrification Agency Officials Amid Financial Probe
President Bola Tinubu has stopped the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Rural Electrification Agency, Ahmad Salihijo, and three other directors from working for now.
This happened because of new discoveries about how money was handled at the Agency. Tinubu’s spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, explained this in a statement.
Besides Salihijo, Tinubu also stopped Olaniyi Netufo (who manages corporate services), Barka Sajou (in charge of technical services), and Sa’adatu Balgore (overseeing rural electrification fund).
Tinubu wants a bigger investigation into what these officials did with over N1.2 billion in the last two years. Some of the money has been recovered by anti-corruption agencies.
As a result, Tinubu has picked a new team to run the Agency for now. They include Abba Aliyu (as the new boss), Ayoade Gboyega, Umar Umar, Doris Uboh, and Olufemi Akinyelure.
Tinubu expects everyone in his government to be honest and responsible. He promises to focus on giving Nigerians better governance and services, not personal interests.
