The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have proposed substantially greater minimum wage amounts than the states are ready to pay.

The recommendations range from N447,000 to N850,000 per month, with several factors impacting the estimates, including current economic conditions and cost of living.

The Federal Government, through the Tripartite Committee, is negotiating the new minimum wage, with the goal of achieving a fair and sustainable rise.

Stakeholders from various regions present their arguments at public hearings, emphasising the need for a salary increase to cover rising living expenditures.
