The veteran actor was released on Tuesday evening by the Department of State Service (DSS) at their headquarters in Abuja, after countless search on his phones yet found nothing incriminating.

Chiwetalu Agu was first arrested at Upper- Iweka,Onitsha, on Thursday, for wearing a Biafran regalia which the Army personnel said reflected the colours of the Biafran flag.

The veteran actor had argued then that he had committed no offence that what he was wearing was merely a symbol of rising sun.

According to Chiwetalu Agu he said he was merely wearing an attire symbolizing the rising sun while  distributing bread and other items he had bought, to feed the poor and the hungry.

Mean while, he was later released when the Department of State Service (DSS) immediately rearrested him and transferred him from Enugu to DSS headquarters in Abuja.

However, he was released on Tuesday evening after an intervention appealing for his release by Mike Ozekhome’s chambers which had been briefed by the Nigerian Guild of Actors to take up Mr Chiwetalu Agu’ s defence pro bono.

A statement by the chambers revealed Mr Ozekhome had been briefed by the AGN national president, Emeka Rollas, Steve Eboh, and Waski, on behalf of Nigerian Guild of Actors, to step into the matter, and effect Chiwetalu Agu’s release.

Chiwetalu Agu was released on Tuesday evening to Eboh and Monolisa Chinda ( Director of Media, Actors Guild of Nigeria), by the DSS at their headquarters in Abuja, after a thoroughl search on his phones and found nothing incriminating.

Few hours to his release, the 65 years old actor in company of Eboh, later paid a courtesy call on Mr Ozekhome and his team of lawyers at his Abuja Chambers, to appreciate their kind gesture.
