A drüg baron intercepted by the NDLEA with drügs concealed in a Semovita
The National Drüg Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a drüg baron with various kind of illicit drüg Ephedrine, a strain of cannabis, Sativa, known as (Skunk) and Nitrous Oxide known as (Laughing gas).
All of these were concealed in a Semovita packs and dry pepper meant for shipping to South Africa and Kenya through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Ikeja, Lagos.
Femi Baba Femi the spokesperson of the Agency, in a statement on Sunday September 3, 2023 said the trafficking was done by members of the Transitional Drüg Trafficking Organization (DTO), some of whom was immediately arrested, their mansions was raided and luxury cars were as well seized.
“Through credible intelligence, NDLEA operatives on Friday 25th August intercepted a notorious drüg trafficker, Sulieman Babatunde Oba who is a member of the Cartel distributing, Cocaine, Heroin, Methamphetamine and Ephedrine within Nigeria, Brazil, Ghana, South Africa, Mozambique and Europe.
He was arrested while trying to board a Rwanda Air flight to South Africa with two (2) boxes loaded with ephedrine sealed in Semovita packs. The recovered substances is a precursor chemical and active ingredients in the production of Methamphetamine”
Following the statement made by Suleiman who holds a South African passport, is married to a South African lady and has live there for over 20 years, identified Hakeem Babatunde Salami who equally lives in Lagos and South Africa as the head of the drüg ring.
He said a follow up raid in the hose if the suspect Salami that is located at 75 Wosilatu Dawodu street, Ijesha, Aguda Area of Surulere, Lagos on Monday August 28,2023 revealed that he had fled the country on the same day Suleiman was arrested.
He mentioned that a white Toyota Venza car, a Mercedes Benz SUV, phones and other important documents needed for further investigation were recovered from the house.
