Chevron Reaffirms Dedication to Nigeria’s Development

SHARE

Chevron Nigeria Limited has refuted claims suggesting a lack of commitment to investing in Nigeria in 2024. The company emphasized its dedication to maintaining the current mutually beneficial and long-standing relationship with Africa’s largest economy.

In a statement released on Monday, Chevron clarified that the report alleging a snub was misleading and inaccurate. The company operates through a joint-venture arrangement with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, managing onshore and offshore assets in the Niger Delta region.

The statement asserted, “CNL remains committed to sustaining the existing mutually beneficial and long-term relationship with Nigeria and other stakeholders, as demonstrated by our significant economic and social investments in Nigeria over the last six decades. These investments have generated visible and viable socio-economic development in several communities across Nigeria.

“Chevron Nigeria Limited affirms that capital discipline and higher returns to shareholders remain some of our top priorities. CNL will, along with industry peers in Nigeria, continue to engage the government on policies and opportunities to ensure global competitiveness and sustainability of the petroleum industry,” the statement concluded.
