First Crude Oil Shipment to Dangote Oil Refinery: Implications for Nigerian Fuel Production

SHARE

After receiving its first shipment of one million barrels of crude oil on Friday, Dangote Oil Refining Company reports that its plant is anticipating its second supply of barrels in three weeks.

The STASCO vessel was released into the refinery’s crude oil from Shell International Trading and Shipping Business Limited after sailing to the refinery’s single-point mooring, according to a statement from the business.

The PUNCH writes that citing market sources and ship tracking data, SP Global says that the nation’s first crude feedstock for Dangote’s 650,000 b/d refineries has arrived.

After years of delays, the analytical firm said that the development showed that fuel production at the new $19 billion complex is finally going to commence.

The company added in the statement that the first one million barrels, which is the first part of the six million barrels that will be supplied to the refinery by various suppliers, should be sufficient to support the facility’s initial processing capacity of 350,000 barrels per day.

The refinery stated that it would receive the following four shipments from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited in two or three weeks.

“In two to three weeks, the NNPC will supply the next four cargoes, and ExxonMobil will supply the last of the six cargoes.”
