Governor Fubara’s Peace Pledge and PAMO University’s Achievements

In a recent declaration, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State emphasized an unwavering commitment to peace, deeming it an invaluable investment for progress. This commitment stemmed from the Abuja deal, an eight-point agreement to resolve prolonged conflicts within the state. Addressing the 3rd Convocation and 6th Founders Day ceremonies of the PAMO University of Medical Sciences, Governor Fubara highlighted the paramount importance of peace. He affirmed his readiness to pay any price necessary to ensure it prevails.

Amid his dedication to peace, Fubara underscored his administration’s focus on enhancing the education system and healthcare services. While acknowledging strides made, he stressed the need for more concerted efforts to achieve universal access to quality education and healthcare, citing their pivotal role in societal advancement.

Furthermore, Governor Fubara applauded the significant progress of PAMO University, increasing the state’s yearly scholarships for students and pledging continued support for the institution’s growth and medical education standards.

The Chancellor, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, expressed confidence in the graduating students, anticipating their role as commendable institution representatives. Dr Peter Odili, the institution’s pro-chancellor, highlighted the institution’s evolution since its inception in 2018, celebrating the graduation of medical professionals.

During the Convocation, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Michael Diejomaoh revealed that 89 students graduated, including 40 pioneering medical doctors and 49 from diverse medical courses, with five achieving first-class honours.
