Kebbi State Governor Vows to Retain Doctors with Improved Allowances

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has promised to make sure that medical personnel in the state are paid their allowances regularly and with an increase. He made this commitment during a dinner organized to honor 13 medical doctors from the state who have recently graduated from Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto.

In a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Idris, Governor Nasir Idris emphasized the importance of retaining medical professionals within the state’s healthcare system. He acknowledged the vital role these professionals play in saving human lives and expressed his determination to bridge the gap in allowances between state and federal medical facilities.

“I will do my best to increase doctors’ and other medical staff allowances, so that the gap in allowances between the state and the federal government is filled, to enable them to stay at home and work for their people,” Governor Idris stated.

Expressing his joy at the graduation of the medical doctors, the governor highlighted his administration’s efforts to support medical education. He mentioned an increase in scholarship allowances for medical students studying at various universities from ₦30,000 to ₦50,000 to enhance their academic activities.

Governor Idris also outlined future plans to construct standard hospitals across the state’s four emirates. This initiative aims to improve the accessibility of health facilities and alleviate the suffering of citizens affected by various illnesses.

The Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Alhassan Yauri, expressed his gratitude to the governor for hosting a reception in honor of the medical doctors who had just graduated. He acknowledged that this was the first such event in the history of the state. Additionally, he made an appeal to the governor to reconsider the allowances for medical staff, including doctors, as a crucial step in preventing their migration to other organizations.
