Lagos State Government Takes Action: Seals NIPOST Office and Demolishes Illegal Structures

In a move to address the concerns of residents, the Lagos State Government has taken decisive action by sealing the old Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) complex in the Mushin area and demolishing illegal structures attached to it.

According to a statement from the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, the action was prompted by complaints from residents of Lagos Homs Estate in Mushin. The ministry’s enforcement team, under the directives of Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab, carried out the operation on Sunday.

The statement mentioned that the old NIPOST complex at Olu Aina Street, Mushin, was sealed, and illegal structures attached to the perimeter fence were demolished to address the concerns raised by the community.

Additionally, the ministry’s enforcement team visited Beach Estate, Abule Osun, in the Satellite Town area, where shanties were removed based on complaints from residents of C Close in the area.

The statement also highlighted the removal of illegal structures attached to the perimeter fence of Archbishop Aggey Memorial School on Sadiku Street, Mushin, following complaints from residents of Subairu Banire Street.

On Monday morning, as part of ongoing efforts to minimize the menace of street hawkers, the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) and Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) operatives conducted enforcement operations on various roads, including Oshodi-Ikorodu road, Jibowu, Yaba, Muritala Muhammed Way, Oyingbo, Lagos Island, outer Marina CMS, Victoria Island, and Lekki axis. Environmental defaulters were arrested during the enforcement.

The Lagos State Government remains committed to addressing urban challenges and ensuring a cleaner and safer environment for its residents.
