Legal Battle Unfolds: Oyo State Government’s Accounts Blocked Following Dispute with Ex-Council Chiefs
The Federal Capital Territory’s (FCT) High Court ruled in favour of the ex-council chiefs fired by Governor Seyi Makinde in 2019 and ordered freezing of the Oyo state government’s accounts in ten banks.
These leaders obtained a sizable judgment against Makinde and state representatives to collect unpaid amounts from the first decision.
Only a tiny portion of the debt was paid despite the Supreme Court’s ruling against Makinde’s acts and the ensuing judgment, resulting in higher penalties and freezing the state’s funds.
