Over $20 million has been invested in the rural economy by the Federal Government, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and the Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises Niger-Delta (LIFE-ND) project, according to Sanni Abiodun, the project’s national coordinator.

According to The Nation, Nigeria’s green alternative agriculture roadmap and the national strategy framework for youth employment and job creation are supported by the LIFE-ND initiative.

Abia, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, and Ondo are the states that are taking part. Cassava, rice, plantains, oil palm, cocoa, poultry, and fisheries are the seven commodities they concentrate on.

Speaking at the conclusion of a media tour in Asaba, the capital of Delta State, Sanni stated that since the project’s beginning, it has made a major commitment to the region’s economic growth and prosperity.

In order to ensure sustainable agricultural development, improved income, and the creation of jobs for the youth and women in the region, the national programme coordinator described the LIFE-ND project as an initiative of the Federal Government in collaboration with IFAD/Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as well as the state governments of the Niger Delta region.

He stated that the administration of the NDDC, through the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, has been contacted by the Federal Government via the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the principal implementing agency, to make sure the NDDC meets up.

“This project has significantly committed to the economic growth and wealth of the Niger Delta region,” Sanni stated. The project has helped the rural economy by more than $20 million since its start. That comes very near to N16 billion.

“Overall, the project has been successful in producing over 12,000 jobs and guaranteeing that over 15,960 businesses are operating throughout the six states that are involved in the region.”

As a project, we have also successfully made sure that, fairly speaking, more than 80% of our beneficiaries have access to a better natural diet.

“The project has achieved its goals, particularly in terms of guaranteeing our people’s access to infrastructure that is climate-friendly.
