Minister of Defence Assures Timely Pension for Retiring Military Officers at Regimental Dinner Night

The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, reassured retired and retiring military officers at a Regimental Dinner Night in Abuja of prompt payment of pensions and entitlements, emphasizing their sacrifice for national stability.

He praised their exemplary service, as one General, one Lieutenant General, 67 Major Generals, and 44 Brigadier Generals retired from the Nigerian Army. Badaru urged retirees to reflect on their next phase while acknowledging their spouses’ support.

Additionally, he lauded the Armed Forces’ commitment to democracy, highlighting its influence in West Africa. Badaru emphasized the retired officers’ diverse skills, respecting diversity as a valuable asset post-service. He assured ongoing government efforts to enhance the welfare of current and former personnel.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja encouraged retired officers to appreciate their journey in the Army, acknowledging their families’ support. Maj.-Gen. Victor Ezugwu, on behalf of the retired officers, pledged to remain ambassadors of the Nigerian Army post-retirement.
