Nasarawa State Empowers NSCDC: Safe Schools Response Centre Initiated

SHARE

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has received a fully furnished Safe Schools Response Centre from the Nasarawa state government for its activities. This would help the NSCDC prevent any planned attacks on schools by bandits, terrorists, and other criminals.

Additionally, the government announced the launch of the Safe Schools Project and urged the private sector to step up and spearhead the project.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps’ public relations officer, Babawale Afolabi, made the donation public in a statement.

According to Babawale, state governor Abdullahi Sule donated the centre during a one-day sensitization session for important stakeholders in the north-central geopolitical zone.

According to him, Governor Sule expressed gratitude for the work being done by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the National Safe Schools Response Coordination Centre (NSSRCC) in support of the Safe Schools Programme in Nigeria.

According to the source, the governor, through his deputy, Emmanuel Akabe, urged everyone in the state to work together with security agencies to guarantee the Safe Schools implementation project’s greatest possible success. The governor defined education protection as a shared responsibility.

The Commandant General (CG) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Audi, in his remarks, stated that the menace of violence and attacks on schools in Nigeria has spanned over a decade.

He claimed that the heinous wave of assaults on education showed up as facility destruction, disruptions in the classroom, and child absences. He bemoaned the unpleasant effects of the situation, which nobody should tolerate going forward.

According to Audi, the Federal and State Ministries of Education, Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs), and other pertinent stakeholders work together with the centre as a coordinating agent, rather than operating independently from other security agencies.
