Nigerian Army Raid: Tragedy or Targeted Action? Kaduna Incident Revealed

SHARE

Mistaking a Maulud gathering for a bandit camp, the Nigerian Army raided the gathering on Sunday night in Kurmin Biri village, Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State, killing fifty people.

The number of severely injured patients admitted to hospitals has increased by 53. But one eyewitness said that more than a hundred people perished.

While onlookers attempted to bring the wounded to a nearby hospital and the dead to a cemetery, the plane came back and dropped a second bomb, further devastating the town.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has denied any involvement in the bombing of civilian villages.

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani called for an extensive investigation to avoid such events. Along with the Nigerian Army, the Commissioner of Police, the Director of the DSS, and the Chairman of the JNI Kaduna State branch, the governor held an emergency security meeting.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) also shared grief at the news. What the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) called “this avoidable mistake” warrants a comprehensive investigation.
