Southern India’s Tamil Nadu Grapples with Devastating Floods After Intense Rains

In southern India, intense rainfall has led to devastating floods in Tamil Nadu, claiming at least 10 lives and displacing over 12,600 individuals.

The aftermath of Cyclone Michaung, which struck the region recently, exacerbated the situation, leaving neighbourhoods submerged and hundreds stranded.

The state government and rescue teams are grappling with the dire conditions, deploying emergency supplies via airforce to aid those isolated by flooded roads. Chief Minister M.K.

Stalin highlighted the unprecedented rainfall’s severe impact on livelihoods and infrastructure, acknowledging the distressing toll on the affected communities.

The distressing scenario in districts like Thoothukudi and Tiruelveli paints a grim picture, underscoring the urgent need for assistance and relief efforts.
