Sydney Man Charged for Sending 17 Million Scam Texts Across Australia
There is a man in a Sydney neighbourhood who is accused of sending 17 million fraudulent texts all around Australia.
Like organisations like Australia Post or toll road operators, the 39-year-old allegedly utilised “SIM boxes” to send fake texts. Police warned about SMS phishing and stressed how con artists use these methods to obtain banking and personal information.
The defendant was given bail after being accused of a significant offence involving networked devices.
