The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Victor Olaiya, has issued a ban on the use of fireworks, firecrackers, and other explosive devices throughout the yuletide season. This decision, communicated through the command’s spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, is motivated by the potential for these items to cause extensive property damage, severe injuries, and a threat to public safety.

In a statement, Olaiya emphasized the serious consequences individuals may face if caught violating this ban, highlighting the commitment to enforcing the law and maintaining public order. The ban aims to ensure the safety and security of citizens during the festive period.

While extending warm season greetings to the people of Kwara State, the Commissioner urged residents to celebrate responsibly, respecting the rights and well-being of others in their communities. The statement emphasized the importance of citizens refraining from actions that could disrupt peace and tranquility within neighborhoods.

In preparation for the upcoming festivities, Olaiya has directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Heads of Tactical Units to enhance security measures in their respective areas of responsibility. The goal is to provide maximum security before, during, and after the yuletide, fostering a law-abiding and secure environment for all residents.

This proactive measure seeks to create an atmosphere of celebration while ensuring the overall well-being and safety of the community.
