The Federal Government has authorised the closure of access routes to the National Arcade and the Federal Secretariat in Abuja Phases I and II during the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebrations on January 14th and 15th, 2024.

The reason for these road closures was stated in a circular by Mahmud A. Kambari, the Permanent Secretary for Social Welfare in the Office of the Federation’s Head of Civil Service.

This instruction, headed “Cordoning off Roads Around the Federal Secretariat given the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration,” was sent to central Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). The circular emphasised the President’s scheduled wreath-laying ceremony on January 15, which would mark the culmination of the celebration.

To guarantee event security, access roads leading to designated areas will be restricted from January 14 until after the event on January 15. Employees in these places are encouraged to postpone their return to work until after the January 15, 2024 event.
