SHARE

The federal government of Nigeria has notified Information and Communications Technology (ICT) service providers and contractors about its intention to conduct a comprehensive review of guidelines governing their operations and registrations.

The existing guidelines, in place since 2018, are undergoing scrutiny to foster the growth of local Information Technology (IT) companies. The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), operating under the Ministry of Communications, Innovations, and Digital Economy, announced the review in Abuja.

The Head of Corporate Affairs and External Relations of NITDA, Hajiya Hadiza Umar, stated that the aim is to streamline the process of delivering IT services to federal government entities. The 2018 guidelines outlined the registration process for indigenous IT service providers, emphasizing high-quality IT project delivery, professionalism, and the growth of local IT companies in line with relevant Presidential Executive Orders.

The review seeks to enhance the efficiency of the registration process, promote indigenous IT services, and engage competent vendors for government IT service delivery. NITDA aims to collaborate with stakeholders to leverage Information Technology to benefit Nigerians, simplifying daily activities, especially in government and institutional service delivery.
