The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully intercepted a significant amount of illicit substances, arms, and ammunition at the Tincan Seaport in Lagos, concealed within household items and vehicles imported from Durban, South Africa, and Canada.

The operation, conducted by three specialized units of the NDLEA, involved coordinated intelligence and months of tracking of the containers. The joint examination, carried out by NDLEA officers, Customs Service, and other security agencies on January 18th and 19th, 2024, led to the discovery of 1,274 parcels of Cocaine and Colorado weighing 884.09 kilograms, along with firearms, various ammunition types, and military effects.

The NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, disclosed that the agency’s sniffer dogs played a crucial role in identifying the concealed items within the containers.

The recovered items include four pistols, 197 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 49 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 275 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, 14 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and sundry military personnel effects and chemicals stored in kegs.
