Nigerian Drug Enforcement Agency’s New Year’s Operations: Arrests, Ammunition Seizures, and Drug Busts

During operations for the New Year, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) made notable arrests and drug seizures in several states in Nigeria. In Katsina, a 28-year-old woman named Bilkisu Suleman was captured in possession of 249 live rounds meant for criminals.

Francis Suru got into a fight with armed escorts after being found in possession of 2,104.2 kg of cannabis close to a military cantonment in Lagos. A shipment of Colorado, a potent strain of cannabis hidden in boxing kits from the USA, was seized by another operation at Murtala Muhammed International Airport.

This led to the arrest of Olorunfunmi Saheed Olakunle, a distributor in Lagos. Other busts include narcotics shipments intercepted in Osun, cannabis sativa seizures in Niger, and cannabis blocks in Abuja and Kano. The NDLEA investigated drug usage as well.
