Terem Moffi, a striker for OGC Nice, will play for Nigeria’s national side, the Super Eagles, at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 after missing the group opener against Equatorial Guinea. He was drafted from Bayer Leverkusen as a substitute for the injured Victor Boniface.

Moffi’s participation in Nigeria’s 25-man AFCON team was confirmed by the Super Eagles’ Team Media Officer, Babafemi Raji before they left for a send-off function in Lagos before heading to Abidjan.

A reliable source close to Moffi confirmed his availability for the national team, stating that the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) had reached an agreement with Nice to release Moffi after his club’s Ligue 1 match against Rennes on the weekend, causing him to miss the first game against Equatorial Guinea. The Super Eagles will face Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea Bissau in consecutive matches following the first encounter.
