The federal government has halted the accreditation of Benin and Togo degrees due to allegations of fraud.

Because of worries that Nigerians are earning degrees through questionable ways, the Federal Ministry of Education in Nigeria declared that it would no longer be evaluating or accrediting degree credentials from Benin and Togo.

This move was prompted by an investigative investigation published in a Nigerian newspaper, which showed that an undercover journalist could obtain a degree from a university in Cotonou in just six weeks.

The government expressed displeasure that Nigerians were using dishonest means to obtain degrees to obtain undeserved employment chances. The suspension will remain in place until the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), the Department of State Security Services (DSS), and the Ministries of

Foreign Affairs and Education of Nigeria conduct an inquiry. Furthermore, the Ministry is examining internally the participation of its employees and its plans to
