Nigerian Nurses Protest New Certification Guidelines

SHARE

Nurses from the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives protested against new verification certification guidelines by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).

Nurses criticized the guidelines for hindering career opportunities and demanded attention to nurses’ welfare, salary, and staffing issues. The NMCN’s circular, issued on February 7, 2024, required active practising licenses and a six-month processing time for verification applications starting March 1, 2024.

The protest was held peacefully at the NMCN office in Abuja, highlighting concerns about unemployment, quackery, and nurse protection.
