Dismissal of Police Officers for Misconduct: Zone 16 Takes Decisive Action

Three officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), stationed at Zone 16 headquarters in Bayelsa State, have been dismissed from their positions due to their involvement in corrupt practices and other misconduct.

These officers faced disciplinary action for offenses related to “discreditable conduct and corrupt practice,” following an investigation conducted by the command.

The dismissed personnel are Inspector Edet Inamete, Inspector Jeremiah Oreeke, and Inspector Uche Collins, as disclosed by the Zonal Public Relations Officer, CSP Ikwo Kelvin Lafieghe.

In an effort to uphold the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force, the affected officers were relieved of their duties and stripped of their uniforms on 14th February 2024, following their dismissal from the force.

Their dismissal, sanctioned by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, took effect from 18th January 2024, after they were found guilty of the charges brought against them.

The officers who faced expulsion are Inspector Edet Inamete (AP/NO: 279374), Inspector Jeremiah Oreeke (AP/NO: 347467), and Inspector Uche Collins (AP/NO: 334909).

Additionally, AIG Paul Alifa Omata, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police overseeing Zone 16 headquarters in Yenagoa, reiterated his commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards any actions that tarnish the reputation of the Force or the Zone.
