Oyo State Witnesses Protests Due to Rising Food Prices and Hardships

SHARE

Oyo State young people became enraged and staged protests in the streets against high living expenses, food inflation, and general hardship.

With signs calling for a halt to price increases on food and inflation, as well as a reminder to political leaders of their commitments, the nonviolent demonstration in Ibadan was reminiscent of earlier demonstrations in Kano and Minna.

Given that the protests represented popular dissatisfaction with matters like the withdrawal of gasoline subsidies and currency exchange regulations, the presence of armed police officers demonstrated the authorities’ diligence in preserving peace.
