The Nigerian government declared during the 7th Nigeria International Energy Summit that the $700 million Obiafu/Obrikom/Oben gas pipeline (OB3), which began in 2016, would be finished by March 2024.

The pipeline, a key component of Nigeria’s gas infrastructure, will supply 2 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day to the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano pipeline.

President Tinubu explained the elimination of petrol subsidies, noting the strain on economic resources and the threat to energy security.

To offset the impact on disadvantaged individuals, the subsidy elimination seeks to increase transparency, attract investment, and encourage social intervention programmes.
