Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to Undergo Hernia Surgery: Deputy to Temporarily Assume Duties

SHARE

As of my last update in January 2022, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, is scheduled to undergo surgery for a hernia.

The surgery will be performed under full anesthesia. Netanyahu was diagnosed with the hernia during a routine examination on Saturday, March 30.

While he undergoes surgery and is temporarily incapacitated, Israel’s Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister, Yariv Levin, will take over his duties.

This surgery marks Netanyahu’s second since returning to office in late 2022. The operation comes amid renewed talks between Israel and Hamas in Cairo, Egypt, as the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza continues.
