Former Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri has reportedly quit his job at Lazio after his team lost their fourth game in a row. Lazio lost 2-1 in a Serie A match on Monday, making it their 12th defeat in 28 games and putting them ninth in the table.

Reports from SportMediaSet, via the Sun, say Sarri left because of a difficult relationship with club president Claudio Lotito. The club accepted his resignation, knowing they might have fired him later if results didn’t improve.

It’s said that former player Tommaso Rocchi, who coaches the club’s youth team, and sporting director Igli Tare are top contenders to replace Sarri.

Since joining Lazio in 2021, Sarri won 65 matches, drew 30, and lost 42 out of 137 games.

Before Lazio, Sarri coached Chelsea and took them to the Carabao Cup final in 2018-19, winning the Europa League. But he was let go by Chelsea and replaced by Frank Lampard.
