NFIU Reveals Funding Sources of Terrorist Groups in Nigeria
The Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) revealed how terrorist groups in the country are funded.
They identified a network of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) affiliates in 22 countries, with crowdfunding as a major revenue source.
Additionally, some terrorist groups use betting platforms for funding. These groups, including Boko Haram, engage in illicit financing through various means like crowdfunding, online platforms, and betting platforms to support their operations, including attacks, recruitment, and weapons procurement.
