Former Senator Shehu Sani Warned of Kaduna’s Debt Crisis, Says Warnings Were Ignored

Former Senator Shehu Sani criticized Governor Uba Sani for blaming the previous administration, led by Nasir El-Rufai, for Kaduna State’s heavy debt burden.

Sani argued that if his warnings against taking loans were heeded, the state wouldn’t be facing this financial crisis.

He recalled being criticized for opposing a $350 million World Bank loan requested by the El-Rufai administration.

Sani emphasized that the consequences of ignoring his warnings are now evident, as the state struggles to pay off debts, impacting its ability to cover salaries.

He likened his warnings to biblical stories of prophets being ignored before calamities struck.
