Lagos Commissioner of police has warned against any form of protest in the state~detais below
following a substantial information of allege #Endsars anniversary to be conducted by a group in Lagos state.
The Lagos state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has on Monday issued a gravy warning on the proposed protest to kick off to mark as the #ensars anniversary in Lagos state.
The CP has threatened to arrest and mercilessly punish anyone be it groups of persons or individuals directly or indirectly involved in the protest of any part of the state.
This warning by the CP was announced ahead of a planned peaceful protest by some civil society groups followed by some individuals in a commemoration of a year anniversary of #EndSARS.
Recall in October 2020, where a number of persons were reportedly murdered while some had severe injury following several properties, including police stations that was destroyed during the protest against police brutality in Nigeria and lagos.
According to the commissioner of police he said “Lagosians and indeed Nigerians cannot afford to retrieve the distasteful experience of last year protest which caused pain, anguish, needless loss of lives and wanton destruction of public and private property”
Mean while, he said “in view of the current situation of the country and the break down of law and order which the planned protest might cause, the Lagos State Police Command firmly advise anyone to desist from any form of protest”
“The Command wishes to use this medium to warn the youths, groups, or associations planning such protest to desist from the idea forthwith”
“The police in the state will not fold their arms and allow some misguided elements disrupt the peace and serenity currently being enjoyed in the state to forestall breakdown of law and order, the police will use all legitimate means within their constitutional powers to suppress the planned protest.
“Therefore, parents and guardians are advised to warn their children against participation in the planned protest, individuals or groups sponsoring such protest are also warned in their own interest to desist from such unpatriotic plan or face the full wrath of the law, he said.
