The Labour Party has officially announced its timetable and activities for the upcoming bye-elections scheduled for February 3, 2024, following the directive from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The National Working Committee of the party emphasized that the public should dismiss any viral timetable circulated by expelled members.

This development swiftly follows the approval of bye-election schedules by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in adherence to the electoral process.

According to a memo from the National Secretary of the Labour Party, Umar Farouk, the leadership has fixed the nomination fees as follows: Senate nomination forms at ₦3.5 million, House of Representatives at ₦2 million, and House of Assembly at ₦500,000.

The sale of nomination forms, expression of interest forms, and delegate forms will commence from December 28, 2023, to January 4, 2024. The deadline for the submission of completed forms is January 4, 2024. Primary elections are scheduled for January 7, 2024. Female aspirants and Persons Living with Disabilities are exempt from paying fees for Expression of Interest Forms.

Farouk further stated that the bye-election forms can be obtained at the National Headquarters in Utako, Abuja, specifically at the office of the National Organising Secretary. Aspirants and the general public can access essential information about the elections from this office.

In a strong-worded statement, the party urged aspirants to ignore the distractions caused by expelled members and concentrate on the election project. The Labour Party also warned those attempting to sow discord to seek other platforms for their activities, emphasizing that Nigerians are well aware of their expired gimmicks.
