The Nigeria Immigration Service has begun training for automated passport applications, which are set to begin on January 8, according to Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The training, aimed at Passport Control and Enrolment Officers, demonstrates readiness for the launch, emphasising the devotion of service officers. Tunji-Ojo earlier stated the government’s goal of completing 99% completion of the automated system, allowing online application processes without physical involvement.

Tunji-Ojo confirmed, when inspecting facilities in Abuja that Nigerians would soon be able to apply for passports totally online, eliminating the requirement for in-person submissions.
