A Magistrate Court in Ilorin has ordered the detention of suspects linked to the killing of Oba Segun Aremu-Cole (rtd), the Olukoro of Koro in Kwara state’s Ekiti local government area.

Charged with criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, kidnapping, and providing false information, the suspects include Godwin Jacob, Olowofela Oyebanji, Adefalolu Ayodele, Tewasie Francis, Babatunde Samuel, Godwin Joseph, Issa Number, Miracle Solomon, Abraham Kehinde, Muhammed Bello, Muhammed Muhammed, Ahmadu Umaru, and Muhammed Dankai, hailing from various addresses in Ekiti State.

The case was brought to light after Aremu Simon Adeyemi reported the incident to the Eruku Police Division, alleging that the suspects threatened him with a gun and attempted to coerce him into joining them.

Despite his grandson’s escape through a backdoor, the suspects proceeded to carry out their deadly deeds, resulting in the monarch’s demise and the abduction of his wife and another individual named Mercy.

In response to a motion ex parte based on the police report, Magistrate Monisola Kamson ordered the suspects’ remand at the federal correctional center until the next hearing scheduled for March 5, 2024.
